Quest of Vence : In the role of a lookout... Let’s crack the code!
I’m in a bit of a jam here in Vence, our charming medieval town. Today is a special day in Vence, with festivities that let us dive into local traditions. As part of the celebrations, the town has organised a medieval communication workshop.
Here, Instagram and WhatsApp are swapped out for towers and colour codes.
The towers from nearby villages are trying to send me messages, but I’m finding them a bit of a puzzle! I must admit, I’m more accustomed to preparing brissaudo, that dry bread rubbed with garlic, than to deciphering messages with symbols and colours!
It’s well-known that every Vence local should understand the local culture and, by extension, this old communication system based on the local dialect, but I was never much of a student.
Fortunately, the Tourist Office has set up a treasure hunt to help newcomers get a handle on the local culture! I need your help to decode the messages from my fellow lookouts by completing this adventure.
